Privacy Policy
This policy explains how CipherBreaker: Code Puzzle (“the App”, published earlier as CipherBreaker: Pure Deduction) handles information. The App is made and operated by an individual developer, Ozgur Cetintas (“the Developer”, “we”).
Last updated: 31 August 2026
The short version
- No account, no sign-up, no personal information. No name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or microphone access.
- No servers of our own. Your progress, tokens, settings and purchase records are stored on your device and nowhere else.
- No tracking across apps or websites. The App never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) for tracking.
- Ads come from Google AdMob, non-personalized only. Every ad request is flagged that way.
- Purchases are processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment details.
- Anonymous gameplay and crash reports go to Firebase. Aggregate product and stability data, not tied to an identity. Section 5 sets out exactly what that means.
In full
Information we collect
We collect no personal information. The App does not require an account and never asks you for personal details.
On first launch the App may generate a random nickname locally on your device — an adjective-and-noun style handle — purely for display. It is not derived from anything about you, is never sent to us, and stays on your device.
What is stored on your device
The following is kept in the App's own local storage and is never transmitted to us — we operate no server that could receive it:
- Game progress: level, experience, statistics, unlocked modes, tutorial and tooltip state.
- Your in-game token balance and economy state.
- App settings, such as sound and haptics preferences.
- Daily challenge progress and streak.
- The current match state.
- A local record of your in-app purchases: Apple's transaction identifiers, the product identifier, the number of tokens granted, timestamps, and whether the purchase was made in Apple's production or sandbox environment. These are opaque identifiers issued by Apple and contain no personal information.
Deleting the App from your device deletes all of it.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App shows advertisements through Google AdMob. Ads are what keep the App free.
We serve non-personalized ads only. Every ad request the App makes is flagged as non-personalized. The App does not use the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA) for tracking and presents no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we do not track you.
To serve ads and prevent fraud, Google may process limited information, including:
- Your device's IP address, which Google may use for coarse location, fraud prevention, and limiting how often you see the same ad.
- Ad-related identifiers used for frequency capping and fraud prevention.
- Whether you interacted with an ad — for example, whether it was viewed.
The App sends Google no identifier of its own about you. Google acts as an independent data controller for what it processes through AdMob, governed by Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the App presents a consent message through Google's User Messaging Platform before any ad is loaded, as applicable data-protection law requires. You make your choice there, and you can revisit it later from the App's privacy options. Whatever you choose, the App only ever serves non-personalized ads.
Apple SKAdNetwork
The App supports Apple's SKAdNetwork, a privacy-preserving framework that measures advertising campaign performance in aggregate without identifying or tracking individual users.
In-app purchases (Apple)
The App offers optional in-app purchases — token packs and a one-time “Remove Ads” purchase. All of it is processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We never see or store your payment information.
The App keeps a local record of completed purchases on your device (see section 02) so it can deliver what you bought and let you restore non-consumable purchases. That record never leaves your device. When you restore purchases, the App reads your entitlements directly from Apple; that information is not sent to us.
Apple's handling of your purchase and payment information is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Analytics and crash reporting (Firebase)
The App uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the game is played and to find out when it breaks. This is the one place where information about your use of the App leaves your device, and it is anonymous.
What is sent:
- Gameplay events, such as a match starting or ending, a mode being unlocked, a hint bought, a case completed, or which screen is on view. These carry only the App's own scalar values — a mode identifier, a stake, a count — never anything you typed and nothing personal.
- Crash and error reports: the error, a stack trace, and technical device context such as the device model, iOS version and App version.
Firebase assigns a random, app-scoped instance identifier so events from one installation can be counted together. It is not your name, your Apple Account, or your advertising identifier, and it is reset if you delete the App.
Consistent with our non-personalized advertising stance, the App explicitly tells Firebase to withhold consent for advertising uses — ad storage, ad user data and ad personalization are all denied — so this data is not used to target advertising to you.
Google's processing here is governed by Google's privacy policy, and by the Firebase privacy and security documentation. If you would like the analytics and crash records associated with your installation removed, email us at the address in section 10 and we will take care of it.
Notifications
The App may ask permission to send local notifications — reminders generated on your device. It uses no remote push notifications and never registers your device for a push token. You can change notification permissions at any time in your device settings.
Children's privacy
The App is a puzzle game for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age where you live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App collects no personal information from anyone and serves only non-personalized ads, it is built to minimise data exposure for every user.
What the App does not do
For the avoidance of doubt, the App does not:
- Require or offer user accounts or logins.
- Collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, photos, camera or microphone data.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
- Use the advertising identifier (IDFA) for tracking, or present an App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- Serve personalized or interest-based advertising.
- Operate any server of ours that receives your data.
- Sell or share your personal information.
Your rights
We hold no personal information about you, so there is nothing on our side to access, correct or delete. What is stored locally is removed by deleting the App. For the anonymous analytics and crash records described in section 05, email us and we will have them removed.
Where you live may give you rights over personal data — under the EU or UK GDPR, or comparable laws. For the processing carried out by Google (advertising, analytics) and Apple (purchases), those companies are the relevant controllers, and their policies linked above explain how to exercise those rights with them directly.
Changes, and how to reach us
We may update this policy. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top changes with it, and material changes are described here.
